Progress! VS. Progress(?)

Today's blog topics include: Progress continues on Crimson Soul 2; hilarious puns; marketing progress(?); pranking on Future Tim

Tim Cody is currently:
Writing: Crimson Soul II
Reading: Daken, Dark Wolverine: Empire
Listening to: Diddy Dirty Money
Highly anticipating: PAX Prime 2011

After finishing Crimson Soul 1, I had to take a break from writing on such a strict schedule since my real job at the time had picked up--Infamous 2 was just a few months from launching, and I had enough work to keep me busy seven days a week.

After everything settled down, it took a bit of work for me to get my groove back. I had to spend a few days groping blindly at my keyboard, but I think I'm back into the swing of things. Especially now that my new printer's all set up, I can actually print what I've written to expedite the editing process.

The process of writing Crimson Soul 2 is different than Crimson Soul 1. The outline I'm working with isn't in nearly as bad a shape as the original was, so there isn't as much to change--not immediately, anyway. The second half of the book will require a majorly massive overhaul, it will surely be a task in itself. But that's a problem for Future Tim.

Future Tim isn't going to know what hit him, that sad sap. I've been playing some epic pranks on that guy lately. Just a few hours ago I replaced his shampoo with honey--he'll be dealing with that one tomorrow morning.

On the marketing front, I continue to experiment with what's best to tweet. I've been sending snippets of a synopsis for Crimson Soul into the void, just enough to hopefully build some mystery and interest--it seems like a 'novel' idea to me. ;) Eh-heheh.

Tweeting is free and only takes a minute, and with the right hashtags you can reach countless potential readers. However, it feels very much like throwing darts with a blindfold on. Which I've done. And I can tell you, sticking darts while blindfolded is easier. Plus it yields a more immediately payoff. Reaching readers continues to be a challenge. I'm sure finding the correct forum boards are key, but that's turning out to be easier said than done.

It's not forward progress, but at least it isn't backwards. Does such a thing exist when you're already at zero, though? I'm pretty sure I can't go into negative readers... Well, people could start telling me they haven't read, and never will read, my book. Boy, that'd really stink, huh?

On a different note, I'm pretty ready for the PAX Prime 2011 schedule to be posted. It's less than a month away, and my dry erase board is ready to be covered in delicious panel times. The best and most efficient way to have a good time is by meticulously scheduling everything down to the minute.
