It's Like Assembling A Mighty Puzzle!

Today's blog topics include: Polish and miscellaneous Crimson Soul 2 tasks; a pretty sweet Hot Fuzz reference; the novel beard; free Crimson Soul 1 e-book offer still valid!

Tim Cody is currently:
Working on: Crimson Soul II
Playing: Dark Souls (PS3)
Listening to: Paramore
Watching: Durarara

First, I'd like to mention that the code for a free e-copy of Crimson Soul 1 is still valid, and is set for unlimited uses. Simply follow this link to Crimson Soul on Smashwords, add it to your cart, and at checkout, use the coupon code EZ59E. Smashwords allows you to download a copy for your e-reader of choice, so whether you have a Kindle, Nook, etc., you're set!

So I've got about 100 pages to go for editing pass 4, which is a pretty good thing. If I hadn't been so lazy throughout the week I'd be nearly done, but that's okay. I'll do a few chapters throughout, and it should be fine. I did about fifty pages Saturday and fifty on Sunday, so I'm not worried about it taking forever. I should definitely be able to have editing pass 4 done by next Sunday night.

I'll do a few chapters throughout the week, so I should be able to finish with some time left on Sunday for polish and miscellaneous tasks.

Polish and miscellaneous tasks include getting the synopsis and my new author bio all squared away. My editor wrote some pretty solid starting points for the synopsis, but I'm still working on it. I'm pretty terrible at synopsizing, so having a good base to start off with is pretty helpful.

As for my author bio, I've decided to spice my current one up a bit. "Spice it up a bit" is a term which here means "create ridiculous Chuck Norris/Old Spice/most interesting man alive-esque facts/statements about myself and my writing for purposes of hilarity and much laughter." This is also proving to be fairly tricky, as all the good ridiculous facts/statements have already been scooped up by either Chuck Norris, Old Spice, or the most interesting man alive.

The best I've got so far is "Tim Cody does not enjoy long walks on beaches; beaches enjoy long walks on Tim Cody." And that doesn't even make sense. So I'm pretty open to suggestions at this point.

By the time I finish editing pass 4, my editor finishes editing pass 5, and I finish editing pass 6 (which sounds like it would take a long time, but it should take maybe another week and a half or so at most), I hope to have all my art ready.

This is the only part that I don't control, which makes me nervous--simply because I like to maintain as much control as possible, and this is the only aspect not entirely on my timeline. I've once again enlisted the aid of my good friend and extremely talented artist Kailey Frizzell to create the cover and insert art. She came through in a big way for Crimson Soul 1, I was most pleased with the quality of work indeed. I'm very much looking forward to receiving this final piece of the puzzle; it's exciting to see a chunk of my words come to life and given new personality in picture form.

Aside: I just got sidetracked and closed Firefox. If it weren't for the fact I'd just copy/pasted my entire blog post into Open Office a few minutes beforehand to check the word count, I'd be totally screwed. Phew!

Instead I just lost the big I'd written about my novel beard. Which is below! Because I'm sure you're all wondering about my facial.

So once all the pieces come together, and a physical of Crimson Soul 2 is available for purchase on Amazon, then the beard shall come off!

I started growing it when I started editing pass 4, which just so happened to coincide with the start of November. It's been a few weeks now, and my face it quite furry. I'm not growing a "great, big bushy beard!," but instead what I hope to be a nice, rather stately facial accessory.

Well, it looks like there's no secret technique this week, just the end of the blog post! That's that and marmalade!
