Today's blog topics include: Finishing up Crimson Soul 2; how to get a free e-copy of Crimson Soul 1; thoughts and feelings on Uncharted 3

Recently Completed: Uncharted 3 (PS3)

I've broken the first commandment of social media! "Thou shalt not let thy channels fall idle." Forsooth, my blog hast fallen silent these past few weeks as I put the final toucheth on thine book.

A good enough excuse as any, I'd say! Crimson Soul 2 is content complete, and its second editing pass is finished. Now I've begun its third and fourth editing passes, and then comes its fifth and final. And after that, to print!

Its third editing pass entails my reading it over one last time--for content, grammar, etc.--and the fourth is my editor going over it, a few chapters behind me. The fifth pass is going through and implementing any changes my editor suggested during the fourth pass, and then that's that and marmalade! After that it's formatted for publication, and then I ship it off.

The process will be slightly different for Crimson Soul 2. For Crimson Soul 1 I first published it through CreateSpace, for physical copies--a process which took about a week. After crunch time (at the time I was working at Sucker Punch Productions and Infamous 2 was close to shipping), I got Crimson Soul all set up in e-book format. A process which I thought would take longer at first, but turned out to only take about a day.

So this time I'll send it all off to CreateSpace for physical copies, and while I'm waiting to hear back from that, I'll get the e-book out. This way, physical and electronic copies should release near-simultaneously.

Processes made simpler by doing! I hope to have everything at least ready for publication by Thanksgiving--but the third and fourth editing passes tend to take the longest, so I'm not setting anything in stone. Hopefully it won't take more than a few weeks, though!

That said, if you haven't read Crimson Soul 1, here's your opportunity! From now until I publish Crimson Soul 2, Crimson Soul 1 is available for free via Smashwords. Just use the coupon code EZ59E at checkout, and load up your e-reader of choice!

Crimson Soul via Smashwords!

It's called the crack dealer method! If you read Crimson Soul 1 for free and get hooked, you'll come back to buy Crimson Soul 2! But come on, it's just a dollar anyway. ;)

Secret Technique #46: Blog Topic Change!

So I started playing Uncharted 3 Friday night, and I beat it Saturday night--about ten hours of gameplay, which is pretty standard for action games these days. An overall cool experience, but not as good as Uncharted 2.

I felt as though Uncharted 2 was better put together, and that perhaps Naughty Dog drove the whole "you're playing a movie" thing a bit into the ground. The pacing was off--the first half of the game was largely cinematic and lacking the more action-packed gameplay I've come to expect, but the second half was one awesome gunfight after another.

Still totally worth it, though. It's a totally awesome game that any PS3 owner should have in their collection. I happen to have purchased the totes sweet collector's edition, which comes with a steel case for the game, Nathan Drake's ring necklace and belt buckle, and a pretty sweet Nathan Drake statuette. A wise investment decision indeed.

Well that's about my word limit!
